Kate Villafranca
President
The founder of NWILC, Kate has been homeschooling for seven years. She has five children. She believes in fostering a child’s love for learning, asking questions to drive their curiosity, and giving them opportunities to explore their interests. NWILC has given her children a space to grow, build friendships, and learn about topics from different parent-teachers over the years. She enjoys the connection she has with the other parents in the co-op and strives to create a peaceful, collaborative environment.

Leslie Chalik
Secretary
Leslie is the mother of two children and is in her third year of homeschooling. She treasures the privilege of allowing her kids to grow at their own pace, nurturing wonder, joy, and genuine friendship in a world that often rushes childhood. Homeschooling has given her children the space to follow curiosities and room to thrive in ways that traditional classrooms couldn’t always provide. She is deeply grateful for how her family has been enriched by the co-op’s spirit of shared learning, where families of all kinds come together to create lasting friendships and meaningful experiences.

Lyndsey Gorham
Treasurer
Lyndsey is the current treasurer and pre-kindergarten teacher at NWILC. She believes that every child deserves the opportunity to learn in a safe, supportive environment where they can freely explore their passions and grow into confident, curious individuals. For over ten years, Lyndsey taught high school math in public schools, driven by a deep-rooted passion for working with children and helping them discover their truest potentials.
Now, as a mother of two amazing boys, her journey in education has taken a more personal turn. This year, she has begun formally homeschooling her oldest son while learning through play with her preschool aged child. Homeschooling has given her family the gift of freedom—freedom to learn through hands-on experiences, explore at their own pace, and embrace the joy of one-on-one connection in their learning process. It's been a natural extension of her lifelong dedication to education, shaped now by both professional experience and the love that she has for her children.
